Welcome to the Legacy Christian Academy website! As you peruse our site, you will capture a glimpse of what is truly a unique and remarkable elementary school located in the heart of the Santa Clarita Valley.
Legacy was officially established in 1995 as an extension of our highly successful Sunshine Child Care & Learning Center preschool program. We moved into our current facility in the spring of 2002, where we offer instruction from kindergarten through sixth grade.
Our mission is to pursue academic excellence and the development of moral character in the lives of our students. We primarily focus on the basics of reading, writing, arithmetic and the acquisition of technological and science skills. Our secondary focus is on the arts, promoting an advanced and comprehensive art, music and foreign language program. All of this is offered in a God-Honoring, conservative, and family environment.
What makes our school special? Several things:
- Legacy is a WASC (The Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accredited school.
- Legacy repeatedly scores high on standardized testing, including the SAT tests given annually to students.
- Legacy places a strong focus on science and technology, ensuring that students are prepared for 21st century challenges.
- Legacy has a proven academic program featuring the Carden curriculum, which is based on a phonetic approach to teaching, reading, language and spelling.
- Legacy's Character Education component is built into the fabric of the school, teaching personal responsibility, respect for others and the value of compassion and caring.
- At Legacy, specialty teachers introduce children to the world of computers, science, art, music, physical education and Spanish. Enrichment classes are held on a weekly basis.
- Legacy is a "God-honoring" school, emphasizing moral and character development in children. Prayer and the Ten Commandments are a vital part of our school life.
- Because Legacy places a cap on enrollment, the Academy can maintain a small, community feeling - in sharp contrast to schools with 1,200 students.
- The key to a quality program is a vibrant, creative, resourceful and perceptive staff. Legacy teachers are highly trained, carefully selected and credentialed.
- Legacy offers small classroom size and excellent ratios - 1:13 in the classroom. This allows teachers to give students highly personalized attention.
- Legacy provides an extremely safe, highly supervised environment where children can learn and play free from worry.
- Legacy parents are extremely involved in their child's education, truly enhancing the educational experience for their children.
- Legacy requires students to wear uniforms, which promote a positive learning environment and improve general educational performance.
- Before and after school care is provided from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and full day care is available on vacation days as well.
