History
Legacy Christian Academy is a private, independent, traditional K – 8 school located in the Santa Clarita Valley. Established in 1995, Legacy Christian Academy began as a private kindergarten, an extension of Sunshine Child Care & Learning Centers’ well-respected preschool program. First through sixth grades were subsequently added as satisfied parents voiced their interest in continuing their children’s elementary school education in the same strong academic environment. In the fall of 2008, Legacy will open a brand new upstairs wing as home to its 7th and 8th grade junior high school.
Legacy Christian Academy was founded by local educators, Tim and Donna Borruel. Tim has a Master of Science degree in Special Education, with credentials in Secondary Education, Counseling, and Administrative Services. He began teaching and coaching in the William S. Hart School District and was later promoted to Counselor, Dean of Students, and Vice-Principal. He is the founder and exective director of the nine Sunshine Child Care & Learning Centers in the Santa Clarita Valley. Tim currently serves as Superintendent at Legacy.
Donna Borruel, formerly a credentialed elementary school teacher in the Sulphur Springs School District, has taught almost every grade at the elementary level, including preschool. She obtained a B.A. with honors in Education and has an extensive background in early childhood development. She is the pioneer of Sunshine’s preschool curriculum and the elementary school curriculum at Legacy.
