Academic Probation

Students are accepted on a trial basis for the first grading period. A student who receives one or more failing grades on a report card or who is consistently struggling with the presented curriculum is placed on academic probation and may possibly be dismissed from school if improvement is not made. Academic probation is a period of time when a student needs special help with his or her schoolwork. Parents will receive written academic updates every other week during this time period.

At Legacy Private Academy, the teachers and administrators care about each student's success. When a student continues to fail, that is a signal that he or she needs special help. The teachers and administrators work with the parents and student to determine how best to help the student. Sometimes an "early bird" or after school class, tutoring or summer school is required to provide the reinforcement needed to get the student back on the road to success. Occasionally, other outside resources including pastors, doctors, counselors or therapists help in understanding and meeting the student's needs. Sometimes that help is best given at a different school in a more appropriate educational environment for the particular needs of the child.

All papers receiving a failing grade will be given to the parent for a signature. The work is to be corrected and returned to the teacher the following day.
