School Policies
The following highlights Legacy Christian Academy's general school policies and procedures.
Parent Visitations
Parents can come to school to visit their child to help in the class. They need to first go to the office and complete our sign in procedures. The office will give them a visitor's pass. They wear the pass so that other staff know that they received permission to be on campus.
Authorized Persons to Pick Up Your Child
When registering your child, please complete the blue Authorization Card. This assures you that no one may pick up your child from Legacy Christian Academy unless his or her name appears on the card. Anyone picking up your child should be prepared to show a picture I.D. Legacy assumes no liability if not properly advised about who can pick up your child. In the event that someone not listed on your Authorization Card is picking up your child, please notify us IN WRITING. Moreover, if someone other than you is picking up your child (even if he or she is on the card), please call the school and notify us.
Written Authorization
Parents who wish to have any person pick up their child who is not on the "Authorization to Pick-up Card" (Blue Card) must provide a written notice with a signature. This note may be faxed. Unless a written note is provided, children will not be released to individuals not on the authorization card.
When written authorization is received from any source, (i.e. fax, letter) the director, or individual whom he/she designates, will verify its authenticity by implementing a verification step (see below). Calling the parent who sent the notice and asking specific questions accomplishes this.
E-mail is not an acceptable form of authorization.
Verification Step
On a regular basis parents will call to notify us of a child's absence. Each staff member who receives this call must go through a verification process with the parent. The staff member receiving the call will go to the child's database and ask, "For verification, can you please give me your child's birth date?" or, will ask some other specific question that only a parent will know. Once the correct answer is given, staff will document the absence on the " Absence Log" and communicate the information to any other relevant party (i.e., director, front desk, van driver, etc.).
Late Charge
If a child is picked up after the closing time, parents will be charged $5.00 for the first five minutes and $1.00 per minute thereafter. This fee will go directly to the staff person who stayed late to supervise your child. The payment is due in cash, that evening.
